..:: We Sell Alpaca Fibre!::..
We have uncarded alpaca fibre for spinning, available in 500gm packs, with black, black-brown, all shades of fawn (caramel), brown and of course white available. Alpaca fibre accepts dye readily, so if you buy white you can dye it all the colours of the rainbow, while fawn fibre can be dyed in darker colours, and brown can be dyed black. You can also mix black and white fibre at the carding stage to achieve gray. Alpaca Fibe is popular with home spinners.
Did you know that the handle (feel) of alpaca fibre is 7 micron lower than merino? ie 20 micron alpaca feels and processes like 13 micron merino.
Our first grade fibre sells for $20 per kilo, (if you are after larger quantities) or $10 per 500gm pack (don't forget you will need to add postage & packaging $10) This price is GST inclusive. Phone or email us to discuss your requirements. Alternatively you are welcome to call at The Alpaca Place to make your selection and purchase - please phone to arrange a suitable time to call.
From time-to-time, we may have carded fibre for sale, but this quickly sells out, so is not always available.
We also have 2nd grade alpaca fibre available for $10 per kilo. This is not available in the 500gm packs, and postage and packaging will depend on how much you purchase. Second grade fleece is still good quality fleece, but is usually shorter and more mixed in quality than first grade. It can be used for felting, or making socks or hats and has all the insulating qualities of first grade fleece. It is not suitable for garment manufacture or handknitted jumpers etc. Our second grade fibre is available in the same colours as the first grade range.
