As we do every autumn, we have been collecting firewood for the coming winter. This serves a double purpose – not only are we kept warm through the coming winter, but our farm gets a tidy too! Every year we have trees that either fall down (in storms) or which we are forced to remove as they have grown too big or could cause too much damage if they did fall. Many of the trees we can remove ourselves (well, Gordon can, with his trusty chainsaw), otherwise we need to bring in professional tree fellers. And autumn is when we tidy all these up, by hiring a log splitter to reduce the timber to burnable sizes. It’s hard work! But great to see the wood shed full.

Thursday, April 21st, 2011National Alpaca Day
Monday, April 11th, 2011Thanks for coming! – National Alpaca Day
To support National Alpaca Day we held an Open Farm on Sunday 1st May. This was a time to join a guided interactive tour of our farm, enjoy meeting our 70+ friendly alpacas, and hear some interesting alpaca facts and tales. We had lots of positive feedback, and some new converts to “all things alpaca”.
