Alpaca World Conference

The 2013 Alpaca World conference is being held near Hamilton, New Zealand (Middle Earth!) later this month. The event kicks off with the Alpaca Associations National Show, and  International Fleece Show on 20 September. The World Conference follows the Expo, and will be held on 23rd and 24th September.

Liz and Cheryl will be taking the opportunity to attend this World event, and have taken up a Bronze Sponsorship (Reserve Champion Intermediate Female Huacaya). Gordon will be staying home to keep and eye on the farm and act as tour guide for our farm tours.

We have entered 5 fleeces in the International Fleece Show, and after many hours of preparation, they are now on their way to the Show Convenor. We are also taking 6 alpacas, who actually have less pre-show preparation than the fleeces, as alpacas are shown “in paddock condition”. So all we need to do is trim off a bit of excess fibre, and make sure they are halter-trained. The four older alpacas are of course already halter trained and are all show veterans, while our two juniors are the focus of halter training right now.
