One of our top breeders, Acheron Cherrie, gave birth yesterday to a bouncing baby boy. It was a textbook birth, with baby weighing in at just over 8kg. Now named Declan, the cria is one of our first from stud male Highway Star Gold Flash, so we will watch his development with interest.

The first day of summer, and here at The Alpaca Place we are being kept busy with procreating alpacas! Several sales of winter have resulted in a large number of females being mated in the shortest possible time, with 3-4 matings or spit-offs happening every week day!

The farm tasks haven’t gone away either – Gordon has been working on extending our irrigation system, Liz tending to general farm maintenance, and I am dealing to some new fencing.

So we expect to be on the go for the next month or so, with some exciting news to share with you in February!
